THE BARBARESCO AREA, PART OF THE LANGHE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
The Barbaresco area is known for its limestone and clay soil, which gives its wine a structure that is both elegant and complex. Here the climate benefits from the mitigatory influence of the River Tanaro and the Alps nearby, which ensure that the Nebbiolo grapes ripen slowly and completely.

MICRO-ZONES
Tiny parcels of land
At the F.lli Cigliuti farm, “local area” refers not to a broad region but to a precisely defined micro-zone, a small, sometimes minuscule parcel of land dedicated to a single vineyard. This philosophy aligns with the concept of a cru: a site distinguished by its ability to produce grapes of exceptional quality, each parcel expressing a unique character.
For five generations, the Cigliuti family has worked the land known as “Serraboella”, one of the most important Barbaresco DOCG geographical mentions in Neive. In1978, Renato Cigliuti was the first producer to feature the name “Serraboella” on a Barbaresco label, a practice the family has upheld for more than three decades and one later adopted by other producers.
F.lli Cigliuti was also the first winery to recognise Serraboella’s remarkable suitability for producing wines of depth, quality, and longevity. Its terrain, exposure, vegetation, and microclimate combine to shape wines that clearly express both the vineyard’s identity and a family tradition passed down through generations.
